Don't Worry, We Are Christians

I talked about you today.
In my conversation with
A friend, the topic of you
Had no end.

We pondered your choices,
We pondered your pain,
We shook our heads knowingly
At what we do not know.

Don’t worry, we are Christians.
It’s okay to discuss and dissect
Our brothers and sisters,
Like cadavers on a slab.

We make better choices for you
When you are not there.
We know the path
You should tread.

Don’t worry, we are Christians.
We agreed you need prayer,
Though we did not pray
For you today.

In our mock humility
We spoke of how the world,
And you, would be better,
If only…

Don’t worry, we are Christians.
We only spoke in love
And Christian clichés as
We ‘fixed’ you in our talks.

We also pondered why
Churches are divided.
It doesn’t make any sense.
Why can’t we get along?

Don’t worry, we are Christians.
As our talks moved
From you to the church
We shook our heads knowingly…

Don’t worry, we are Christians.
